In Thursday's ladies Waltzing Goulash, the winners, with a score of 70 stableford points, were Mandy Gilbert, Pam Dixon and Tracey Thompson. This is a team competition where one score from the three counts on the first hole, two scores count on the second, three on the third and then back to one counting on the fourth.
This pattern then continues for the 18 holes. In second place with 64 points were Tessa Day, Gillian Brogdon and Jan Ravenscroft. One point further back in third place were Barbara Spark, Judy Pinnington and Ceri Hyde. The winner of the nine hole stableford was Trina Walsh!
Photos From The Course
Below is a great autumnal photo of our engraved buzzard standing proudly in front of the fabulous colours by the side of the 12th as well as toadstools recently spotted on the course.
There are also two photos of toadstools recently spotted on the course.
The first one came in from Terri Broadbent who also kindly supplied the photos of the ladies and the buzzard on the 12th.
The second toadstool shot was supplied by Amanita Muscaria.
She spotted it on the right side of the eighth fairway during one of Peter Twist's autumn bird walks. Peter goes onto explain that:
"such toadstools are not normally fatal when ingested but it's probably best not to try! They can cause severe and violent stomach upsets if eaten raw. Usual side effects are psychoactive causing drowsiness, nausea, distorted sights and sounds, euphoria and dizziness. It is thought that Lewis Carroll experienced hallucinary effects resulting in the depiction of the caterpillar sitting on a mushroom speaking to Alice."
So there you have it, I'll leave it up to you decide your course of action should you stumble across any of them during your round....!
