Well done to Tessa Day for kick starting 2017 with a victory in last Thursday's Ladies Nine Hole Stableford. She scored 17 points. Second place went to Pam Dixon with 16 points, beating Lynette Lodge and Jan Ravenscroft on countback. Sorry there's no photo of Tessa as we couldn't afford the image rights!
Last week, I put up some Group Coaching sign-up sheets on the notice boards. The sessions will take place in the simulator and so will be unaffected by whatever the weather might throw at us on those days! We will be looking at driving the ball. We will use the GC2 launch monitor to help you understand what you are currently doing so that we can put together a plan to help you improve. Don't worry, although the technology is complex the take aways from the lessons won't be and the group format will help us to see any common patterns that occur to help us all learn together.
All of the sessions will be on Fridays from 10am - 11am. The cost will be £12 per person which includes a coffee/tea in the clubhouse following the lessons and there will be a maximum of four golfers per group. There are two ladies dates (the 20th January & the 3rd February) and two dates for men/seniors (the 27th January and the 10th February).
If you are interested, please sign up, email me, or click here to let me know and I'll do the honours for you!
James and I have been busy over the last fortnight or so setting up a new EPOS (electronic point of sale) system. In other words, it's a fancy till!
I've wanted one of these for the business for some time but have always been concerned about the costs versus the benefits it will bring. Anyway I've now taken the plunge because it will help me understand the business better - showing profit margins, stock levels, fast and slow sellers etc. It will also seamlessly (ahem!) link purchases with any credit that you might have.
The setting up has been a little laborious as you have to hand enter information about every single product on to the system. So for instance two identical gloves in different sizes count as two different items. Also the exact same glove in everything, including size, but with different packaging will have a different barcode and as such is effectively a different item.
It turns out that there are 691 different items in my little shop at present - thank goodness I don't have to set up a similar system for Tesco or Sainsburys!! Anyway I hope it will improve the service I offer you, the members, and please bear with us if there are some early teething problems!

Will the world's big four dominate once again? Will Matsuyama carry on from where he left off in 2016? How will Tiger get on in his comeback season? Answers to all of these questions and more are just around the corner.
I hope you enjoyed this week's newsletter. As always, if you have anything that you'd like to contribute please speak to one of the pro shop team. I'll see you at the club over the coming days.
