Hale Golf Club PGA Golf Professional
Congratulations to Adam Hyde for winning Bogey 5 on Saturday with four up. He was one of four players to record that score but won on account of a better back nine. In joint second were Peter Veitch, Bill Harvey and Peter Atherton.
Last Thursday Pam Dixon won the Ladies 14 Hole Stableford with 27 points and Jan Ravenscroft was second with 25 points. Twenty ladies played in this event. Ceri Hyde won the seven hole competition with 13 points out of a field of nine players. Claire Makin was second with 12 points.
Work on the clubhouse development started on Monday. If all runs to plan it will be a 16 week project. Last week Russell, Dave and Dave were busy digging a trench around the car park for some pipes, laying concrete in their compound for their new cabin to be situated on in due course, plus all their usual duties of maintaining the golf course. On that subject, the compliments still flood in on the quality of the greens for this time of year from members and visitors alike so keep up the good work gents.
James and I spent most of last week clearing everything out of the Pro Shop and workshop in preparation for the builders' arrival. The photo below of the empty shop with just the slat wall takes me back to when I started at Hale in 2009. The second photo shows the inside of my new temporary home - the Porta Cabin. Space has been at a premium so Russell came up trumps when he cleared a corner of the greenkeepers' sheds for many of the things from my workshop.
The Porta Cabin is now pretty chockablock with Pro Shop stuff and a good amount of it needs to be cleared to make way for secretarial and admin items over the next couple of weeks. The club and I were wondering if any of the members had some available storage space which is dry and safe that we might be able to use for the next four months or so for some of my stock, golf bags mainly as they are pretty bulky. If so it would be hugely appreciated. Please contact me if you are able to assist.

I hope you enjoyed this week's newsletter. As always, if you have anything that you'd like to contribute please speak to one of the pro shop team. I'll see you at the club over the coming days.
