Greetings golfers,

First things first, I'm in need of some help: I'm looking for some help in the shop for one day per week plus some occasional holiday/tournament cover. James is still working for me and doing a great job, but he has recently taken another job with more hours. So if you know anyone who might be interested, please ask them to make contact or forward their details on to me. Thank you.

Competition news

Medal 2

After being beaten on a card playoff in Medal 1, Neil Thompson put the disappointment behind him to bounce back and win Medal 2 with a cracking score of 66 on a firey golf course. Roger Flint was the unfortunate one this time, being beaten on a card playoff. The lowest gross went to James Scott with a 74. The other qualifiers for September's Medal Final and their nett scores were Chris Adams (68), Tony Sampson (69), Ian Goulty (69), James Lord (71), Peter Hardern (71) and Glyn Isaac (71). There was only one two scored, courtesy of  David Wainwright, which is in stark contrast to the previous Medal where 22 were recorded! The CSS of 70 gives an indication of how tricky the course was playing.

Granny Cup

Mary Cockbain won the Granny Cup on Thursday with a fine score of nett 70. The clue's in the name as this competition is open to grandmothers only! Mary reduced her handicap from 33 to 31. In second place with 74 was Jan Ravenscroft and third place went to Min Fishwick and Gwynneth Bramwell with 77s. The CSS on the day was 74. Well done also to Sally Wright who won the nine hole competition with 14 points.

Monthly Seniors Stableford

The second Monthly Seniors Stableford competition was held on Friday and there was an excellent turn out of some 27 players. Congratulations to Tony Sampson for winning with 42 points followed by Andrew Fishwick on 40 points. In third place on 38 was Bill Wrigley. All three players have now qualified for the September Final.
