No More Preferred Lies
We kick off with the news that preferred lies are no longer in operation. It's a been a while coming because the dry weather that followed the verti-draining of the fairways meant that the holes have only just closed over sufficiently to allow normal play.
Well Done Ladies!
There was a great turnout of 46 ladies over two days to compete in the PING Fourball Qualifier last week. The winners and qualifiers for the next round were Jan Ravenscroft and Barbara Spark with an excellent 43 points. Second with 40 points were Caroline Massey and Diana Hogben. Welcome back Rosie Gerrard who's had a bit of a layoff but pulled no punches on her way to winning the Nine Hole Stableford with 13 points. Thanks to Sue Bryant for the lovely photo below of the ladies mentioned above along with lady captain Pat Jefferies.
Is Another Cup Run Coming
The club's Archie Preston Team Mixed Knockout Competition took place away at Hazel Grove on Sunday. The result was a fantastic 5:2 victory and so HGC now march into the next round. If you recall last year, we had a bit of a "cup run" in this event so hopefully we can go even further in 2017.
Clubhouse Development Update
Here's a photo taken from the same angle as last week's of the clubhouse development. Much of the scaffolding has now gone from around the building and windows, and doors have now been fitted so it all seems to be moving along nicely. Not long now!
On Course Golf Camp
Last week, I ran an on-course golf camp for the four juniors below. They are from left to right: Max Jones, Lucas Aldcroft, Edward Lord and Edward Ordman. They were really keen and very well behaved. It was a hot day so here they are taking a well-earned rest on the bench between the 6th green and 7th tee.
I am having a week away with the family from the 2nd to the 9th June and so in my absence the shop will be looked after by James. The shop will be open less hours than usual so please check the sign on the (portacabin!) door for more details. I'll be back in time for the official clubhouse opening though on Sunday 11th June!
